The Atlanta Dream are back from their two-week break after the FIBA World Cup , and they didn't receive the best news as they have four regular season games remaining. Brionna Jones , who's been sidelined since Aug. 13, will be out for the remainder of the season, according to the team.
"The Atlanta Dream announced today that center Brionna Jones will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after sustaining a left leg injury against the Connecticut Sun on August 13. Jones is expected to make a full recovery," the team wrote.
Jones had just returned before the All-Star break after she missed most of the first half of the season rehabbing from another injury she suffered during the offseason. The Dream had her on a minutes restriction, and it looked like she was ramping things up right before her injury.

The Dream signed DeWanna Bonner before the FIBA break in hopes of her filling the void that Jones had, while also bringing another veteran presence to a young team. Bonner should be of good value to the Dream for the rest of the season, and they're looking to go on a playoff run, which could very well be Bonner's last of her career.
Angel Reese will also be relied on more often with Jones out, and she's taken her game to another level this season on both sides of the ball. She's found herself in Defensive Player of the Year talks, and it wouldn't be a surprise if she won the award.
The Dream are currently 26-14 and are in fourth place in the WNBA standings. If they can stay in the top four as the season ends, they'll get home-court advantage in the first round, which will be important for any matchup they end up with. If the season ended today, they would face the Indiana Fever in a rematch from last season.
