INDIANAPOLIS —The Pittsburgh Steelers met formally with Penn State quarterback Drew Allar at the 2026 NFL Combine on Wednesday, continuing their investigation into the quarterback position in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Allar is one of four quarterbacks to have a confirmed meeting with the Steelers and head coach Mike McCarthy here at the Indiana Convention Center.
"I really liked that staff," Allar said to Nittany Sports Now . "It was cool meeting Coach McCarthy in person. I'm looking forward to get to know them more."
Allar is of course, plenty familiar with the Steelers franchise. He grew up in Medina, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland , and he's plenty familiar with what the AFC North has to offer.
"Just the rivalry," Allar said. "I think the AFC North has a lot of that between the Browns, Steelers, Ravens and Bengals . There's a lot of that. It's kind of like high school in that sense."

This was the Steelers' first conversation with Allar. He did not participate in a college all-star game, as he was still recovering from a broken ankle that prematurely ended his 2025 season and his collegiate career at Penn State.
But he's healthy now and plan to perform. While Allar is not doing athletic testing, he will be throwing at the combine on Saturday.
"If I had to go out and play a game today, I feel like I could get it done," Allar said.
A three-year starter at Penn State, Allar only played six games as a senior before his ankle injury. Allar completed 64.8% of his passes for 1,110 yards, eight touchdowns, and three interceptions.
In 45 career games over four seasons, Allar threw for 7,402 yards, 61 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
The former top recruit could have declared for the draft last season, but returned to Penn State determined to improve and increase his draft stock.
So far, that seems to have been a bad bet, as Allar is currently No. 114 on the NFL Mock Draft Database consensus big board, which projects him as a fourth-round pick.
