- ‘Dude Is Broke,’ ‘Down Bad’ — NFL Fans Mock Former Steelers WR Antonio Brown’s Plans for Stand-Up Comedy Debut

Antonio Brown collected seven Pro Bowls and twice led the NFL in receiving with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He hasn't played in the league since 2022, and is now booked to make his stand-up comedy debut at the New England Comedy Club in Cambridge, Mass., on Dec. 18, a booking that fans have mocked.
The Friday night show is still nearly two months away, but fans have already questioned Brown's reasons for taking it, while others have doubted that he will make it to the stage or that the material will be his own.
According to online promotion for the show, Brown will perform at the club in Harvard Square and also do a meet-and-greet with fans. Tickets are on sale for $77. The show's promoter did not immediately return the Boston Globe's calls Monday, the day the booking was reported.
The fan posts came on Monday and Tuesday, and three fans landed on the same answer about why the former Steelers star would take the gig.
One fan put it bluntly: "Dude is broke."
Another fan made the same point: "Bro will do anything for a buck."
One user on X offered a similar read: "He down bad lol."
Some weren't convinced the show would go on as planned, as one person said, "Chances he actually shows up (are) 15%."
Brown's last NFL appearance ended abruptly. He was playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alongside Tom Brady in a Jan. 2, 2022, game against the New York Jets when he took off his pads and jersey mid-game, threw up peace signs to the crowd, and ran off the field to the locker room.

One fan took a shot at his social media habits: "How is he gonna repost other people's jokes like he does on Twitter?"
Another fan already had a use in mind for the night: "New fantasy football league punishment just dropped."
The booking arrives with Brown's criminal case in Miami still pending. He is accused of taking a security guard's gun during a celebrity boxing event in Miami's Little Haiti neighborhood on May 16, 2025, and shooting twice at someone he had fought earlier that night.
Brown, who was extradited from Dubai in November 2025, pleaded not guilty and has maintained that he acted in self-defense, relying on Florida's Stand Your Ground law.

Brown faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the original attempted-murder charge. But his attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, said Brown intends to enter a no contest plea to aggravated assault in a deal with Miami-Dade County prosecutors that would bring probation instead of a prison term. Withheld adjudication is also expected, which means Brown would not be labeled a convicted felon.
Brown arrived in a Miami courtroom on Sept. 30 ready to enter the plea, but Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez, who was in the middle of another trial, postponed the hearing to next Wednesday, Oct. 28.
"It's a setback because it's another month that my client has an ankle monitor on and doesn't have closure, which everybody in this case wants," Eiglarsh said after the postponement, though he also told TMZ Sports that "we remain optimistic that … she will accept the carefully negotiated resolution."
