- Eagles' eye pass rush help with interest in Vikings' Jonathan Greenard
The Philadelphia Eagles continue to explore ways to bolster their pass rush, and one name that has surfaced in trade discussions is Jonathan Greenard of the Minnesota Vikings . According to Adam Schefter, Philadelphia has checked in on Greenard at multiple points this offseason, viewing him as a potential addition to a defensive front that thrives on pressure and rotation. Greenard posted 12 sacks in 2024 and followed that with a quieter 2025 campaign, recording 3 sacks in 12 games, though his pass-rush win rate suggests he remained highly effective at disrupting quarterbacks.
Prior to free agency, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler noted that the Eagles have inquired about the pass rusher while working to re-sign Jaelan Phillip to a deal ahead of the new league year.
One possibility is adding Vikings linebacker Jonathan Greenard, whom the Eagles have checked in on at various points this offseason, per sources. Greenard had 12 sacks in 2024, but he managed only three last season over 12 games, despite a solid 23.3% pass rush win rate. The Vikings have been adamant about getting a premium Day 2 pick for Greenard. Philadelphia holds pick Nos. 54, 68 and 98 on Day 2 this year.
League sources say the Eagles and Vikings could revisit discussions they already have had during the upcoming draft, but talks have lost steam in recent weeks. The Eagles' wish list of trade candidates goes well beyond Greenard, per sources, though. Roseman almost always has a Plan A, B, C and D, and his team is one to monitor on one of the busiest weekends of the NFL calendar.
Greenard, 28, is one of the Vikings' top defensive players and has two seasons remaining on the four-year, $76 million contract with the Vikings, signed in 2024. Greenard has a $22.3 million cap hit and is due $19 million in 2026, but none of that money is fully guaranteed.

A trade would save them about $12 million in cap space.
Any deal, however, would come at a cost. Minnesota is reportedly seeking a premium Day 2 pick in return, and the Eagles hold selections at No. 54, No. 68, and No. 98 — giving them the flexibility to re-engage if talks heat up during the draft. While discussions have cooled in recent weeks, sources indicate the two sides could revisit negotiations as draft weekend unfolds. General manager Howie Roseman is known for keeping multiple options open, and Greenard is just one of several trade candidates Philadelphia is monitoring as it looks to reinforce its defense ahead of the 2026 season.
