The Philadelphia Eagles made changes to their wide receiver roster this week by officially waiving 2024 sixth-round pick Johnny Wilson with an injury designation . The Florida State product had established himself as a reliable perimeter blocker and a rotational target during his rookie season. However, recurring injuries limited his ability to compete in training camp, especially with the arrival of new receivers including Hollywood Brown and first-round rookie Makai Lemon.
After his release with the injury designation, Wilson went unclaimed on the 24-hour waiver wire by any other NFL teams. NBC Sports Philadelphia insider Dave Zangaro provided an update on social media , stating: "Receiver Johnny Wilson , who was waived by the Eagles yesterday with an injury designation, cleared waivers and has now reverted to the injured reserve."
By reverting to Philadelphia's injured reserve list, Wilson officially remains under contract with the organization while he continues his physical recovery. Although this designation sidelines him for the upcoming season, unless the team agrees to an injury settlement, it allows the young receiver to focus solely on rehabilitation as the Eagles finalize their 53-man roster.
