The Philadelphia Eagles have ruled out Jakorian Bennett for their upcoming game against the Washington Commanders, as their injury riddled season continues. Now, the Eagles only have five corners available for the in-division matchup.
Bennett was acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the 2025 season, with hopes that he would give the Eagles a stable outside corner next to Quinyon Mitchell. However, that simply was not the case, finishing the 2025 season with a 34.0 PFF grade, the lowest mark among 114 qualified cornerbacks.
Entering the season, Bennett was battling for a roster spot, following the Eagles signing Riq Woolen, who quickly claimed the CB2 role, and Jonathan Jones as a backup, depth piece. Bennett did enough in training camp to make the initial 53-man roster but was placed on IR prior to the Eagles season opener due to a knee injury.
The Eagles opened Bennett's 21-day practice window on Oct. 14, along with those of Landon Dickerson, Eli Stowers and Grant Calcaterra. The other three players were activated ahead of last week's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Bennett's practice window closes on Nov. 4, at which point the Eagles must either activate him to the 53-man roster or leave him on injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
How Does Jakorian Bennett's Absence Impact the Eagles?
If the Eagles' roster were at full strength, the loss of Bennett might not be as significant. However, Jones suffered a hamstring injury that will sideline him for at least Sunday night's game. Jones, who played for the Commanders last season, ranks third on the team in snaps at outside cornerback.
If either Mitchell or Woolen is forced to leave the game, the Eagles' remaining backup options are Mac McWilliams and Kelee Ringo, who have combined for just three defensive snaps. Philadelphia could also turn to Kenny Moore, who has plenty of experience at cornerback, primarily in the slot. However, Moore has also taken on an increasing role at safety, another position where the Eagles have questions.
