Eder Sarabia, Espanyol's new manager
RCD Espanyol de Barcelona have officially appointed Eder Sarabiaas their new first-team head coach, signing him to a contract that runs until June 30, 2028. The Catalan club's board has turned to the Biscay-born coach to take charge of the squad and get their season back on track.
The change in the dugout at Cornellà-El Prat comes just 24 hours after the sacking of Manolo González. The previous coach's time ran out abruptly following a shock Copa del Rey exit against fourth-tier Sestao River and a five-match winless run in the league that yielded just one point from a possible fifteen.

At 46, Sarabia takes on this challenge following spells as head coach of FC Andorra and Elche CF,as well as serving as Quique Setién's assistant at UD Las Palmas, Real Betis and FC Barcelona. Known for his attacking approach, playing out from the back and distinctive tactical identity, Sarabia arrives with the task of lifting the squad's spirits and making them more consistently competitive on the pitch.
Joining him on his new venture at Espanyol are coaching staff members Jon López, Jon Moreno, Aitor Unzué and a familiar face for the club's supporters: Álvaro González. The former Cantabrian centre-back, who made 82 competitive appearances for Espanyol during his playing career, now returns to join Sarabia's coaching staff and bring his experience to the dressing room.
Eder Sarabia will be officially unveiled as Espanyol's new head coach before the accredited media at the Juan Segura Palomares Auditorium at RCDE Stadium. Following Sergio García's brief spell overseeing training on an interim basis, the new coaching staff will take charge immediately to prepare for the upcoming La Liga match against Villarreal, where Sarabia will begin his new chapter at the Espanyol helm.
