The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have some hope ahead of Week 8. Tampa absolutely destroyed Carolina 43-13 last week in Baker Mayfield's return from injury. He'll have to do his best this weekend in another NFC South clash without one of this top offensive weapons.
Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles confirmed on Friday that Emeka Egbuka will not play against the Falcons on Sunday, per Rick Stroud.
Egbuka was a limited participant at Thursday's practice but did not practice at all on Friday. The young wide receiver has been in concussion protocol, but Bowles said that he cleared it. Now it appears that a foot injury is keeping Egbuka out of action.

Egbuka has not been very productive during his sophomore campaign. He only has 28 receptions for 240 receiving yards and two touchdowns in six games played. He is falling far short of the expectations he set for himself as a rookie last year. With Egbuka out, the Buccaneers will be forced to rely on Chris Godwin and Ted Hurst III as their primary wide receivers. Perhaps other players like Bucky Irving and Cade Otton will pick up some slack in the receiving game.
In other Buccaneers injury news, Luke Goedeke practiced on Friday after not practicing on Thursday with a calf injury, per Greg Auman. There is a possibility that he plays on Sunday. Antoine Winfield Jr. was all a full-go at practice. Auman also noted that Kenny Gainwell was practicing but may end up being a game-time decision on Sunday. Gainwell is dealing with a hip injury and missed practice Wednesday while being limited on Thursday.
Despite all of this, Tampa is still very much alive in the NFC South division race. They are only one game out of first place and could gain a lot of ground with a win on Sunday.
Buccaneers vs. Falcons kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 1 from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
