Former Denver Broncos quarterback Ben DiNucci saw what fans did in the Broncos ' blowout loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 1: a team who came in with less fight than the other guys. Despite the issues Denver had against Kansas City, DiNucci felt like there may be a silver lining in each facet of the game.
DiNucci first said that playcaller Davis Webb will be alright, despite a very rocky premiere on the sideline. "(Sean Payton) gave (play calling) up to Davis for a reason," DiNucci tweeted on Tuesday. "Give it time."
DiNucci tried to explain quarterback Bo Nix 's poor play on Monday by speaking about Nix's shaky return after a broken bone in his ankle in January. Bottom line: DiNucci isn't worried about Nix moving forward. "(Nix) never looked comfortable," DiNucci said. "Let's not forget he had two surgeries this offseason too. He'll get better."
As for the playmakers around Nix, DiNucci said the Broncos offense needs to flow through wide receiver Jaylen Waddle , who only had one catch for two yards in his regular season Denver debut.
The defense definitely disappointed, but DiNucci believes all their issues are correctable.
The final word from DiNucci is simple: There were issues, but they are temporary. This team will get better, and there is a lot of football left to play. The next step forward is recovering from the Week 1 loss by rebounding against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.
