Zappe spent the 2025 season with the Cleveland Browns on their practice squad. He did not make an appearance in a game this year. His last appearance came in Week 18 of the 2024 season when the Browns started Zappe and was intercepted twice.
The 26-year-old was fourth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by the New England Patriots . Zappe was Mac Jones ’ backup until the latter was benched f or the former — which ignited some controversy in Foxborough before both of the quarterbacks’ tenures came to an end after the 2023 season.
The Jets go into the offseason with a slew of questions at quarterback. After signing Justin Fields last year, he didn’t pan out the way the team hoped and it’s unclear what his future is with the team going forward.
