SAN FRANCISCO —Former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker and current New England Patriot Robert Spillane did not hold back on Tom Brady for a controversial comment about having "no dog in the fight" in Super Bowl LX .
Brady, a Patriots legend, won six Super Bowls with New England. But he's playing it neutral for Sunday's big game. Brady being a color analyst for FOX and a co-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders could be the reason for him being indifferent on who wins Super Bowl LX.
"Personally it makes me sick," Spillane said during a Super Bowl media press conference.
"He has a dog in the fight. For him to say that, it is what it is. But at the end of the day, he's an owner of the Las Vegas Raiders now. So he has to do what's best for him."
"I don't have a dog in the fight in this one," Brady told Jim Gray on the Let's Go! podcast. "May the best team win. In terms of the Patriots, this is a new chapter in New England, and I'm glad everyone's embraced the Mike Vrabel regime, all the amazing players that have worked so hard to get their club to this position. We did it for 20 years. There was a little bit of a hiatus in there, but the Patriots are back and it's a very exciting time for everyone in New England."
Brady not backing the Patriots have irked many fans and former teammates, especially ex-Patriots cornerback Asante Samuel.
"Brady you can't be the only one winning super bowls. Let me find out you hating on Drake Maye and Vrabel. "I don't have a dog in this fight" Not what I wanted to hear. Brady knows how I get down. This ain't nothing new to him," Samuel wrote on X .
Former Patriots nose tackle Vince Wilfork also ripped Brady.
"That's bull-crap, Tom. Come on now," Vince Wilfork said Wednesday on WEEI. "This ain't political, what it is. Raiders ain't in it. Say what it is. What, what do you see? … Man, look, at the end of the day, if you're a 'Patriot for life,' you know what it is."

Spillane joined the Steelers in 2019 and improved his production every year until he became a free agent following the 2022 season. He eventually signed a two-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders,
From 2019-22, Spillane racked up 191 tackles, three sacks, one fumble recovery, eight passes defensed, one interception and one touchdown.
Spillane earned himself another payday with the Patriots this past offseason, signing a three-year, $33 million contract. In his first season in New England, Spillane has recorded 97 tackles (48 solos), four tackles for loss, five passes defended, one forced fumble and two interceptions.
Spillane is one of four former Steelers who will be represented in Super Bowl LX.
