Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
The Falcons released Bralen Trice on Tuesday, October 20, to clear a roster spot. By Wednesday, October 28, the Las Vegas Raiders signed that same player to their practice squad. This rapid turnaround raises a hard question about the Falcons' decision to let him go so soon. Heavy.com reported the Raiders made the move on Wednesday, just eight days after Atlanta cut him loose.
A Quick Turnaround for Trice
Selected in the 2024 NFL Draft by the third round, Trice came from the University of Washington. He stood 6-foot-4 and looked like a player with strong potential for Atlanta. The Falcons selected him with the No. 74 overall pick. Now in his third season, he only suited up for four games before the release. His path to the field was blocked by two torn ACL injuries. He missed the entire 2024 season and the full 2025 campaign due to those knee issues.

Playing in 2026 was an accomplishment for Trice given his injury history. He took the field in Week 1, then Week 3, followed by Weeks 5 and 6. He also had one pass defensed during a Thursday night win over the Packers. Another tackle came in the overtime loss to the Ravens. His final game with Atlanta was against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, October 18, where he played 21 snaps but did not record a stat. Heavy.com noted the Falcons released him to make room for defensive end Charles Snowden.
The Raiders See Value
Atlanta moved on, but Las Vegas decided to take a chance on the edge rusher. The Raiders signed Trice to their practice squad on Wednesday. This move suggests they want to see if he can stay healthy and play. Trice has already seen NFL action this season, which is a plus for a mid-year signing. The Raiders might be looking to see how he looks when he is not recovering from knee surgery. A former top-75 pick seems like a smart addition for a team needing depth.
Atlanta must hope they avoid regretting his departure. Before injuries struck, Atlanta considered Trice to have strong potential. Now, another team gets the chance to evaluate his health and skills. On Wednesday, the Raiders revealed the signing via their official social media channels. This quick sign-and-release cycle often makes fans wonder if the first team made a mistake.

What This Means for Atlanta
The Falcons just beat the San Francisco 49ers 29-20 on Sunday, October 25, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. They need a strong defense to keep winning. Losing a draft pick like Trice to another team is not ideal. The team hopes Snowden, who played 31 games for the Raiders, fills the gap left by Trice. Only time will tell who made the better move in this roster shuffle.
