Sideline reporters are having a tough go of it during postgame interviews at all levels of college football these days.
Symone Stanley is the latest reporter to be left hanging during a postgame interview with Florida A&M's Armond Parker after their 28-27 win over Alabama State on Friday.
Parker threw for three touchdowns and ran for one, totaling over 400 yards and helping the Rattlers ruin Homecoming for the SWAC preseason favorite Hornets.
Afterward, Stanley caught Parker for a few questions about his performance and the team's. She got answers to two of her questions: how he felt coming into the game and what impressed him about his team. The third question, about how head coach Quinn Gray, Sr. said FAMU's theme this week was soul-searching, will remain unanswered; however, before he could finish asking, a coach whisked him away, and he seemed to know better than to disobey.
Stanley's look into the camera wasn't unlike ESPN's Holly Rowe when Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian blew her off after the Longhorns' big win over Ohio State .
SWAC TV announcer Jared Oliver put the perfect period on the moment as the camera cut to Rattlers players heading into the locker room.
"Alright, Quinn Gray, his team, trying to get out of here…," he said.
UPDATE: Parker provided an explanation for the hasty exit and an apology to Stanley.
"Want to take a moment and apologize to Ms. Symone Stanley of SWAC TV for the abrupt ending to her interview of our QB Armond Parker," Gray wrote in a statement on Facebook. "There was a situation happening on the field and tempers were flaring and I needed everyone to get to the locker room so there wasn't another story that would have needed to be explained."
