Bayern Munchen slipped for the second time in the league and drew away to FC Augsburg 2-2 in the Bundesliga which had a notable high-profile error for the opening goal after seconds.
The opening whistle went and, within the first few seconds of the match, something extraordinary happened at the WWK Arena : an error from Manuel Neuer that produced the fastest goal ever in Germany's top division.
The experienced German goalkeeper is renowned for the quality of his distribution, but he made a costly mistake straight from kick-off. With the Bavarian side pushed into the opposition half in an attempt to take control from the start, Neuer got his bearings mixed up and handed the initiative to the opposition: Robin Fellhauer seized the gift and did not stop until he had put the ball into the net. Goal after five seconds.
Vincent Kompany 's side reacted promptly, but could not restore parity. The visitors' football was characterised by intricate passing, with FC Augsburg determined to keep their defensive shape. The first 45 minutes were defined by numerous efforts from the away side, in every shape and form, but without any cutting edge in front of goal.
Bayern Munchen managed to level the match after having a goal disallowed for offside early in the second half. Harry Kane found space and, with great composure, teed up Ismael Saibari , who collected the ball and fired at point-blank range.
Augsburg changed tack in the following moments and went back in front with a goal from Rodrigo Ribeiro , who capitalised on a rebound to strike first time and send the home fans into raptures once again. It was the forward's second goal of the season.
In their search for the three points, Bayern did everything they could to find a winner and even scored again, but once more saw the goal ruled out for offside. Their persistence eventually paid off in the 80th minute, when Nathaniel Brown , introduced during the match, ghosted into the box and turned the ball into the net after a fine pass from Harry Kane.
Serge Gnabry also had a chance that could have secured all three points for the Bavarians who had to settle for a solitary point instead.
With this draw, Bayern Munchen remain in 2nd place in the Bundesliga, two points behind leaders Dortmund, while FC Augsburg climb to 5th in the table.
