Fever give Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell more help with latest signing appeared first on ClutchPoints . Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here .
The Indiana Fever have been the feel-good story of the WNBA for the last two seasons. Caitlin Clark mania reeled in hordes of new fans in 2024 and the team displayed tremendous resilience to make the semifinals in 2025 despite being severely shorthanded, but in 2026, this group is expected to genuinely contend for a championship. The burden is on the front office to recognize any early-season flaws and shore up the roster before it is too late, thereby ensuring that Indy does indeed fulfill its immense potential.
The Fever are addressing their lack of size and frontcourt depth by signing Grace VanSlooten, according to the team's X account. The rookie forward was waived by the Seattle Storm earlier in the week, and Indiana wasted little time in scooping her up.
VanSlooten averaged 4.3 points in 12.0 minutes through four games played this season. Although she is only posting a modest 1.5 rebounds per contest, the 21-year-old proved to be capable in that department during her college career. She provided a strong post presence for both Oregon and Michigan State. The Fever can certainly use some more of that quality.
Indiana currently ranks 10th in rebounding in the WNBA, averaging just 32.8 boards thus far. Stephanie White 's squad has been great at boxing out opponents on defense, but crashing the offensive glass is a glaring issue. VanSlooten tallied 2.6 offensive rebounds per game during her time with the Ducks and Spartans. If she can demonstrate that skill at this level, then the Fever should find some minutes for her.
Indiana (3-2) will go for its third win a row when it faces the Golden State Valkyries (3-1) on Friday night. The action tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET.
