The New York Giants absolutely crushed the 2026 NFL Draft . New York made some incredible additions during the draft, drawing almost universal praise from national analysts. But it is one late-round pick who is the latest Giants rookie to be hailed as a draft steal.
ESPN's Field Yates highlighted a few rookies from Day 2-3 of the draft who could make an immediate impact this fall. He named Giants rookie Bobby Jamison-Travis as one player who could make an early impact.
"The Giants badly needed defensive tackle reinforcements after trading Pro Bowler Dexter Lawrence II five days before the draft," Yates wrote. "While expecting Jamison-Travis to fully replace Lawrence is unrealistic, the former Auburn player was one of my favorite Day 3 run defenders."
Yates praised Jamison-Travis as an excellent run defender who will likely only play on early downs.
"Jamison-Travis is powerful and stout, and he can hold his ground with great length and overall size (6-foot-4, 322 pounds)," Yates added. "He's not a pass rusher (one sack in three seasons at Auburn), but he will help on early-down run defense."
The sixth-round pick gives New York some much-needed depth at nose tackle for the future. However, he may need to really prove himself during training camp to get regular snaps as a rookie.
Since drafting Jamison-Travis, the Giants have added a pair of veteran interior defenders. Former Lions defensive tackle D.J. Reader is the biggest threat to Jamison-Travis, as he is an established nose tackle. He projects as New York's Week 1 starter at nose tackle on early downs.
The Giants also brought in Shelby Harris for more depth on the interior of the defensive line.
It will be interesting to see if the hype around Jamison-Travis persists into the summer.
