- ‘What a flex’: Kylie Kelce reacts as Caitlin Clark claims opponents ‘don’t really talk trash to me’

Caitlin Clark has been one of the most scrutinized athletes in sports since she entered the WNBA in 2024. But despite all that attention, the Indiana Fever star says opposing players rarely talk trash to her. And she insists she isn't much of a trash talker herself, no matter what people might assume.
When someone does try to get under her skin, Clark has a simple way of handling it. She pretends she can't hear them, which isn't much of a stretch.
Clark joined Kylie Kelce on the latest episode of Not Gonna Lie , where the host asked if she's an underrated trash talker. Clark, however, said that reputation isn't exactly accurate.
"See, people always think that I'm like a trash talker. I don't even think I really am," Clark said. "I don't really talk trash. Like, I don't really say anything to people. Like, I feel like I only get really hype. Like when I make three threes in a row, I'm like, 'Oh yeah, like you can't guard that.' Or like something like that. But like in a fun way."
She pointed to a viral moment from last season as an example.
"Like there was a clip that went viral last year when we played the Liberty and I made a three over Stewie. And like, me and Stewie just both started laughing, cause it was funny," Clark said. "Like, those are the fun moments, but I don't really trash talk like that honestly. I mean if somebody says something to me, I'll probably go back. Honestly, the people I talk to the most is the refs, which I need to do better at. So maybe I should chill on that a little bit."
That shot came in the Fever's 102-88 win over the Liberty in June 2025. Clark later explained that she and Breanna Stewart were both laughing because neither could believe it went in.
When Kelce asked if a specific trash talker came to mind, Clark claimed that players don't generally talk all that much trash to her, either.
"People don't really talk trash to me," Clark said.
"What a flex," Kelce replied.
Kelce joked that people don't talk trash to her either because "they know it's only going to piss me off and make their day worse."
Clark agreed with that assessment and said she would actually welcome the trash talk.
"Like I want you to say something to me," Clark said. "Like, and I do my best to just act like I can't hear. Like I love that. I think that's funny. Like, 'Oh, shoot.' Like, 'I can't hear.' I have really bad hearing to start with, so like I just like I just act that way."
Clark insisted the part about her hearing wasn't a bit.
"No, I do. I promise. I promise. I've like ruptured my eardrums multiple times. So, like, you get permanent hearing loss," Clark said. "But no, I just try to act like I can't hear and then like they're like, that makes them more mad. So, that's what you try to do."
Needless to say, it might not be worth even trying to talk trash to Caitlin Clark on the court.
