Florida Gators starting defensive tackle Jeramiah McCloud will not play Saturday against the Oklahoma Sooners after the program suspended him for conduct detrimental to the team.
Florida announced the decision Wednesday, releasing a statement but not disclosing the specific incident that led to the suspension.
"Jeramiah McCloud has been suspended for this week's game against Oklahoma for conduct detrimental to the team," Florida said. "His status with the program will be re-evaluated after this week's contest."
The wording makes the punishment limited to Saturday's game for now, with McCloud's availability beyond the Oklahoma game still pending review.
Florida did not publicly connect the suspension to any particular incident. However, earlier this season, McCloud was captured on video making an obscene gesture toward fans in Florida's loss at Missouri.
McCloud has started five of Florida's eight games this season. The 6-foot-3, 294-pound sophomore has recorded 22 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and half a sack, while adding three pass breakups.
The Gators also ruled out starting right tackle Emeka Ugorji and linebacker Jaden Robinson because of injuries on Wednesday. Wide receiver Vernell Brown III was listed as doubtful, while defensive end Emmanuel Oyebadejo and wide receiver Bailey Stockton were listed as questionable.

On top of that, head coach Jon Sumrall made yet another change to his quarterback room, naming Tramell Jones the starter for Saturday's game over Aaron Philo.
Florida enters Week 10 with a 5-3 overall record and is 3-3 in SEC play. Oklahoma is 4-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
Florida hosts Oklahoma on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. ET.
