As the Florida Gators get ready for their upcoming SEC game against the Oklahoma Sooners, the team will have to figure out a way to bounce back.
Florida was blown out a week ago by the Georgia Bulldogs, seeing them drop their third game of the season. But the Gators have been a resilient group all year long, and this team will be asked to make it happen again.
Entering the game, the Gators hold a record of 5-3 on the year, with the team going 3-3 so far in SEC games. Florida is ranked at No. 23 for the week, staying alive in the first edition of the College Football Playoff rankings.
As for the Sooners, they will be coming into the game with a record of 4-4 for the year, going 2-3 in SEC play so far. This team has underperformed this season, but the Gators can't overlook them at all.
Oklahoma still has star quarterback John Mateer under center, and he can do damage against this Gators defense. Florida is going to have to be very careful in the game, looking to avoid being upset at home.
As the two teams prepare for the SEC battle, the Gators are being favored to come away with the win this week. Florida has been given a 64 percent chance to take down Oklahoma at home, according to the ESPN matchup predictor .
One way for the Gators to get an edge in the game is to get running back Jadan Baugh back into a strong rhythm. After an incredible start to the season, the star back has slowed down heavily, with him going 100 yards on the ground for four straight games.
Baugh still has put together a special season for Florida, with him rushing for 801 yards with 13 touchdowns. But when the Gators are at their best, Baugh is going up and down the field, opening the offense up.
If Florida is able to get Baugh going again this week, it could help the offense out, giving the team a much stronger chance to take down the Sooners. Oklahoma can have an explosive offensive attack, so the Gators may be forced to put up points in order to keep up with them.
Kickoff for this game between the Gators and the Sooners is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. PT/7:45 p.m. ET from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville.
