Florida Gators coach Jon Sumrall is expected to make a quarterback change for Saturday's game against Oklahoma, turning to Tramell Jones Jr. over Aaron Philo.
A source confirmed the decision to ESPN on Thursday after CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz first reported it. Jones is now in line to make his second career start and his second in Florida's last three games.
"Florida is currently expected to make a change at QB and to start sophomore Tramell Jones against Oklahoma on Saturday, sources tell @CBSSports," Zenitz reported on X. "Was a Class of 2025 four-star recruit and helped the Gators beat Texas Oct. 17 when he started in place of an injured Aaron Philo."
Sumrall declined to name a starter Monday. That said, he acknowledged having an idea for who would start, saying, "I'm not going to make a big one quarterback announcement, but I have a plan that is already kind of in motion and in place."
Philo returned from a shoulder injury to start last Saturday's 27-8 loss to Georgia but lasted only three drives. He completed five of seven passes for 26 yards and threw two interceptions before Sumrall replaced him with Jones.
Jones finished 18-of-25 for 172 yards with one interception. He also scored a rushing touchdown but lost a fumble that Georgia returned for a touchdown.

Jones had already started when Philo missed Florida's game at Texas with the shoulder injury, completing 22 of 35 passes for 155 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while adding 41 rushing yards in a 27-24 victory.
Jones has completed 70.8% of his passes for 579 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions this season.
