Flyers send young winger to Phantoms after signing Bunting originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
To make room for Michael Bunting, the Flyers loaned Alex Bump to AHL affiliate Lehigh Valley.
The move came Wednesday, a day after the club decided to shake up its roster a bit with the signing of Bunting .
Bump, a 22-year-old rookie winger, was healthy scratched Monday night for the Flyers' 4-1 loss to the Lightning . The team, at 0-2-2, is on a four-game losing streak to open the season.
In the first three games, Bump went scoreless with four shots through 12:08 minutes per game. He was not the only player to have a quiet start. In fact, the Flyers have gotten just three goals from their forwards. As a team, the Flyers have been outscored 17-5 and outshot 158-77.
With the veteran Bunting now in the picture and the return of Denver Barkey from a lower-body injury, Bump became the odd man out. The Flyers will want him to play big minutes for the Phantoms.
Last season, Bump joined the Flyers after the March trade deadline and opened eyes . He had a strong rookie game last month , but didn't stand out in training camp and the preseason.
"He has been OK this camp," Rick Tocchet said a little over a week ago. "He's a guy, I talked to him today, that has got to start to play inside, take pucks to the net. It's going to get really hard to score goals."
