ESPN's Jenna Laine recently highlighted a familiar name for Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans, noting that former linebacker Anthony Walker Jr. has begun the next chapter of his football career.
Walker spent the 2025 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and frequently spoke about his long-term interest in coaching. Now, that goal appears to be becoming a reality as he joins the Atlanta Falcons as a coaching fellow.

During his lone season in Tampa Bay , Walker brought veteran leadership and experience to the linebacker room. While his time with the Buccaneers was brief, he earned respect throughout the organization for his professionalism and football knowledge.
Laine noted that Walker openly discussed coaching aspirations during his time with the Buccaneers, making his transition into the profession a natural next step following his playing career.
Coaching fellow positions have become a common entry point for former players looking to break into the profession, allowing them to gain experience working alongside NFL coaching staffs while learning the day-to-day responsibilities of the role.
Although Buccaneers fans may now see Walker on the opposing sideline within the NFC South, his move into coaching is unlikely to surprise those who followed his time in Tampa Bay. Based on the comments he made last season, it always appeared football would remain a major part of his future long after his playing days ended.
