- Former Chiefs guard hoping to find home with Cowboys as Prescott protector
The first week of training camp practices are in the books for the Dallas Cowboys , and all of the attention has been focused on the upper tier of the roster. Fans should also consider those fighting for roster spots or places on the practice squad, because those guys could evolve into something special.
One such candidate is Chris Glaser , a standout guard from the UFL. Glaser, a former Virginia Cavalier, went undrafted in 2022 and spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2022 and the New York Jets from 2022 to 2023, where he played in a few games. This marks his second stint with the Dallas Cowboys in 2023, and he has also been with the Chicago Bears in 2024 and the UFL Cleveland Aviators in 2026.

Games to watch #69 Chris Glaser Virginia vs Virginia Tech (2021)
Glaser anchors his game on power, leverage, and technical discipline. At the point of attack, he uses a sturdy upper body and low pad level to sink his hips, clamp down, and neutralize bull rushers before they collapse the pocket. His pass-protection instincts translated directly to the UFL with the Columbus Aviators, where he allowed just eight pressures across 229 pass-blocking snaps earning a solid 68.5 PFF pass-blocking grade.

In the run game, Glaser plays with heavy hands and a mean streak, consistently latching onto interior defensive linemen and driving linebackers off their spots. Flexibility is his calling card. With snaps at right guard, left guard, and even right tackle spanning his time at Virginia, New York, Chicago, Dallas, and Columbus, Glaser offers invaluable interior cross-training.
He won't blow anyone away with elite foot speed or dynamic range as a pulling guard in space. Instead, Glaser makes his living off functional strength, sound hand placement, ultra-low assignment errors, and multi-position versatility. He projects as a high-floor, reliable interior swing guard who keeps the offense on schedule.
Where does he fit on the Cowboys?
The Cowboys have a reputation for discovering hidden talents among offensive linemen, such as TJ Bass and Terence Steele . Glaser's path won't be straightforward; he faces competition from Bass, Trevor Keegan , Marcellus Johnson , and DJ Wingfield. To secure a spot, he must demonstrate his ability to play both left and right guard at a consistently high level, as the Cowboys usually maintain two interior rotational players on their 53-man roster. One is a rotational guard, while the other primarily serves as a backup center with some versatility. Glaser is up against stiff competition and will need to elevate his blue-collar playing style to stand out.
