The entire football world came to a halt on Sunday afternoon following a scary collision in the Washington Commanders ' win over the Seattle Seahawks .
Commanders linebacker Leo Chenal went in for a tackle in the second quarter and remained down for a long time after the play was over. The former Kansas City Chief was carted off and immediately taken to the hospital for further examination.
Fans got good news on his status Monday morning. Chenal has feeling in all of his extremities. He's set to undergo a season-ending surgery for a fracture in his neck, but is expected to make a full recovery, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz.
Chenal spent four years in Kansas City , helping lead the Chiefs to a pair of Super Bowl victories. He racked up 218 total tackles and seven sacks during his tenure with the Chiefs. The former Wisconsin Badger was a key member of the special teams unit early on and earned more defensive snaps as his career progressed.
Chenal was the Chiefs third-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. He signed a three-year, $24.75 million deal with the Commanders in March.
