The Kansas City Chiefs parted ways with their long-time backup and scout team quarterback, Chris Oladokun , after a preseason injury settlement.
The veteran quarterback officially joined the Canadian Football League after agreeing to a deal to join the BC Lions ahead of the 2026 season. The 29-year-old leaves the NFL after getting the most playing time of his career last season while filling in for an injured Patrick Mahomes and his backup, Gardner Minshew .
In three games last season, Oladokun finished with 35 completions on 55 attempts for 235 yards and a touchdown. He had four fumbles, losing two, but avoided throwing an interception. He completed his first career pass to Travis Kelce , a six-yard catch over the middle in the second quarter, while relieving Minshew during the Week 16 loss to the Tennessee Titans .
Selected originally by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the seventh round (241st overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft, Oladokun spent six years in college, playing for South Florida, Samford, and South Dakota State.
A concussion, followed by being placed on injured reserve, made him expendable with the exceptional play of rookie Garrett Nussmeier . The Lions also signed defensive back Jordan Oladokun , Chris's brother, to the practice roster.
