- Former Clemson basketball star PJ Hall suffers ankle fracture
What looked like another chance for former Clemson standout PJ Hall to build momentum at the NBA level has quickly been put on hold.
The Charlotte Hornets big man is now out indefinitely after being diagnosed with a right ankle fracture. The injury comes just days after Hall was called back up from the Greensboro Swarm, cutting short what could have been a key stretch late in the season.
Hall had recently been making the most of his opportunities. In 12 games with Charlotte this year, including two starts, he averaged 6.1 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field in limited minutes. His last NBA appearance came on Feb. 22.
Most of his production this season has come in the G League, where he has been one of the more consistent performers. Across 23 games with Greensboro, Hall averaged 18.9 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks, showing his ability to impact both ends of the floor.
The 24-year-old has taken a winding path early in his pro career. After going undrafted in 2024, he signed with Denver before later spending time with Memphis and now Charlotte. He has appeared in 38 total NBA games across those stops.
Before entering the league, Hall put together one of the better careers in Clemson history. He earned first-team All-ACC honors in his final season after averaging 18.3 points and 6.4 rebounds, finishing his career with 1,702 points and ranking among the program's all-time leaders.
With the Hornets still in the mix for a play-in spot and only a few games left in the regular season, Hall's absence takes away a developing frontcourt option at a tough time.
