The Dallas Cowboys were an absolute disaster against the Arizona Cardinals in the second half on Sunday, turning a 14–3 lead at halftime into a 33–30 overtime loss . This came after the Cardinals decided to bench starting quarterback Jacoby Brissett in favor of backup Gardner Minshew, who then proceeded to tear through the Cowboys defense despite having not completed more than three passes in a game since 2024.
The loss was such a disappointment that even former Cowboys couldn't find a way to explain it outside of expressing general disgust. Ben DiNucci, who was a backup for the Cowboys for two seasons and now works as an analyst for CBS Sports, absolutely fried his former team.

"This was absolutely embarrassing today. They stink. I'm lost for words honestly," DiNucci said.
"They have so much talent on both sides of the ball, and year after year, week after week, all we see is just let-downs from them. I'm not sure what needs to change … at some point the same-old, same-old in Dallas for the Cowboys, it's not cutting it. Something needs to change. Somebody needs to look in the mirror. I don't know who it is. But that was an embarrassing loss. They had a 10-point lead with a couple minutes left. They let Arizona drive the length of the field a couple times. Tied that thing up. Should have lost in regulation, ended up losing in overtime. This is embarrassing for the Cowboys. Embarrassing."
DiNucci is leaning on a good amount of coach-speak in his analysis here — arguing that someone needs to look in the mirror, but he's not exactly sure who, is a delightful bit of commentary — but generalities aside, the sentiment is clear. This is simply not good enough from the Cowboys.

Former players who take on the role of analyst sometimes struggle to look at their former teams objectively. Just a few weeks ago, there were jokes about how Jason Kelce was still working on dropping the "we" from his lexicon when discussing the Philadelphia Eagles.
It would appear that DiNucci has so such issue.
