This summer, one of the big storylines out of the Detroit Lions' training camp involved former Michigan State football star linebacker Joe Bachie. Bachie was frequently complimented by the coaching staff, which made the tough decision to cut him before the season . Bachie hung around with the Lions organization this year on their practice squad, and due to the horrific injury to starting linebacker Jack Campbell , the Lions signed Bachie to their 53-man active roster from the practice squad.
In the NFL, opportunities like this tend to happen when another player, such as Campbell, suffers a horrible injury. That's the nature of the sport. So, while MSU fans will likely be happy for Bachie to get an opportunity, it's bittersweet given the nature of why he's receiving that chance.
Either way, Bachie will get a chance to show the Lions and the rest of the NFL what he can do with this opportunity.
