After Florida State won 18 games under first-year headcoach Luke Loucks , Loucks must now replace some key players from his inaugural season. One such player is big man Chauncey Wiggins, who signed a contract to play inthe NBA's summer league with the Boston Celtics .
At 6-foot-10, Wiggins averaged 13 points per game forthe Seminoles during the 2025-26 season. He was surprisingly accurate at thefree throw line for a big man, shooting 85 percent. Wiggins was as experienced as they come at thecollegiate level, logging play in 97 career games.
Before his stint with the Seminoles, Wiggins played three seasons at conference rival Clemson . As a true freshman in 2024, Wiggins played a key role in the rotation as the Tigers advanced to the Elite Eight.

During his junior season with the Tigers, Wiggins celebrated victories over North Carolina , Duke ,and Kentucky.
Once he arrived in Tallahassee, he did not disappoint. Against North Carolina early in the season, Wiggins pulled down 10 rebounds. In a game vs. SMU this past March, Wiggins scored 31 points, made 10 field goals (including six 3-point field goals), and had two steals.
Florida State won 10 of its last 13 games, a string of games in which Wiggins averaged 15 points per contest. In addition, he shot 50 percent from 3-point land and 80 percent from the free throw line.
Wiggins joins former teammates Lajae Jones (Golden State) , Robert McCray V ( L.A. Lakers ), Baba Miller ( L.A. Clippers ) and Darin Green Jr. ( Dallas ) in the NBA post-draft process, trying to make a roster. That quest begins in the summer league.

The Celtics play fast and furious in July, with four games against the Toronto Raptors on July 10 to start summer league play, July 12 vs. the Charlotte Hornets , July 13 vs. the Atlanta Hawks , and July 15 vs. the Sacramento Kings .
If there is a part of Wiggins' game that needs work, it is his rebounding and his need to be more physical in the paint. The lack of rebounds makes sense for a 6-foot-11 player shooting from 3-point range. But the Celtics will not expect Wiggins to shoot from the outside at the rate he did in college.
Wiggins, at 225 pounds, will need to put on some weight to handle the big men at the NBA level. If he can improve in those two areas and play more with his back to the basket, Wiggins could have a shot at making an NBA roster.
