A former Spartan starred for his new team in their exhibition opener on Thursday night.
Former Michigan State basketball guard and current LSU Tiger Divine Ugochukwu looked impressive in his first game with his new school on Thursday. He led the Tigers in scoring, playing a critical role in avoiding an upset at the hands of McNeese State in their exhibition opener.
LSU rallied late to beat McNeese State by the final score of 63-60.
Ugochukwu played nearly the entire game for the Tigers, finishing with 18 points on 6-of-10 from the field. He also record five rebounds in his 39 minutes of game action.
Ugochukwu played one season at Michigan State after transferring from the University of Miami (Florida) last offseason. He appeared in 22 games for the Spartans, including 12 starts. He averaged 5.1 points and 1.5 assists per game.
The situation at LSU is interesting at the moment with a number of players on the Tigers' roster dealing with eligibility issues with the NCAA and legal systems. It'll be interesting to see how those cases play out, but it seems certain Ugochukwu will be a key player for the Tigers this season based on this first exhibition game.
