- Former Stars Defenseman Headlines U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2026
Former Dallas Stars defenseman Ryan Suter is headed to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame as USA Hockey announced Thursday that Suter headlines the Class of 2026 alongside Phil Kessel , Amanda Kessel, T.J. Oshie and longtime athletic trainer Stan Wong. The class will be enshrined on Nov. 30 in Washington, D.C., at a ceremony that will also hand out the NHL's Lester Patrick Trophy.
Suter, the now 41-year-old Madison, Wisconsin, native, put together a 20-year NHL career that ranks among the most durable in league history. Selected seventh overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2003 NHL Draft, Suter spent the early portion of his career in Nashville before signing with the Minnesota Wild in 2012, where he became a cornerstone of the franchise for nearly a decade.

Over nine seasons in Minnesota, Suter recorded 55 goals and 314 assists for 369 points across 656 games, anchoring the Wild's blue line and serving as one of the league's most reliable, minute-munching defensemen.

Suter's career came full circle when he signed with the Dallas Stars in 2023, closing out his playing days over three seasons in Texas. During his time with the Stars, he posted 12 goals and 62 assists for 74 points to go along with a plus-15 rating in 246 games, continuing to serve as a steady, veteran presence on a club chasing a Stanley Cup.

By the time he retired, Suter had appeared in 1,526 NHL regular-season games, finishing with 107 goals and 589 assists for 696 points over his two-decade career, a run that also included a silver medal with Team USA at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
He joins a loaded induction class that includes Phil Kessel, who finished his career with 992 points in 1,286 games and won three Stanley Cups, and his sister Amanda Kessel, a Patty Kazmaier Award winner who captured Olympic gold in 2018 and four world championship titles, making the Kessels just the second brother-sister pair enshrined in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame, following Cammi and Tony Granato. T.J. Oshie and longtime athletic trainer Stan Wong round out the five-person class.
