The Commanders did not hire Martin, instead choosing to promote assistant quarterbacks coach David Blough to offensive coordinator to replace Kliff Kingsbury, who was fired after a disappointing 5-12 season for Washington.
Detroit has yet to fill its vacancy, which was created when the Lions fired John Morton , who had just one season as the Detroit offensive coordinator after replacing Ben Johnson.
Martin will interview with Detroit on Monday, per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN . Seattle Seahawks pass game coordinator Jake Peetz also interviewed for that job, and the Lions reached out to former Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

That summer, the Steelers signed Charlie Batch as a free agent to take the No. 3 quarterback job, and Martin was released in September. He spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad in 2002 and then with the Oakland Raiders in 2003. He finished his playing career in the CFL, spending two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

He moved on to spend two seasons as wide receivers coach at Kentucky, where he served under offensive coordinator Randy Sanders, who had been Martin's offensive coordinator at Tennessee when the Volunteers won the national championship in 1998.
