It's the kind of setback every NFL fan hates to see: a former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver and kick return specialist has suffered a torn Achilles during OTAs with the New York Giants .
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, ex- Steelers wide receiver Gunner Olszewski has torn his Achilles, joining Giants teammates Roy Robertson-Harris and rookie Thaddeus Dixon, who suffered the same injury during OTAs in recent weeks.
Olszewski, who signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2019, went off on to find massive success as a return specialist, earning First-Team All-Pro honors in 2020.
Signing with the Steelers on a two-year deal in 2022, Olszewski contributed primarily via special teams with some occasional usage as a depth receiver. He was release by Pittsburgh in October 2023, where he was picked up by the Giants a few days later.
We at Steelers Wire wish Olszewski a speedy recovery. Although his time in Pittsburgh was short-lived, once a Steeler, always a Steeler.
