- Former Sycamore Camp Wagner commits to play at UC San Diego
After two seasons in the Midwest at Indiana State, and one in the nation's Southwest at Rice University in Texas, Camp Wagner is headed to the West Coast.
The 6-foot-6 shooting guard has committed to play the 2026-27 college basketball season for the University of California-San Diego Tritons.
UC San Diego announced the addition of Wagner on its Facebook and X social-media accounts last weekend.
Wagner was a primary starter through the past two seasons at ISU, before entering the NCAA transfer portal this spring. He led the Sycamores in 3-pointers with 81 in the 2025-26 season, while averaging 11.9 points per game — second highest on the team. Wagner shot 38% overall from the field, 34% from 3-point range and 91.5% from the free throw line.
He started 26 of ISU's 32 games last season for coach Matthew Graves. He scored a season-high 25 points in his final game in Hulman Center against UIC on March 1, a 79-63 Sycamore win. Wagner also played a whopping 51 minutes in a triple-overtime loss to Bradley in Hulman Center on Dec. 18, scoring 21 points.
He averaged 11 points and 3.7 rebounds, cumulatively, in two ISU seasons.
Wagner will join a UC San Diego team that finished 23-11 overall and 12-8 in the Big West Conference last season. The Tritons made their program's first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2025.
