The Milwaukee Brewers toppled the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday night to win the first title in franchise history.
And when the Brewers get their rings in 2027, one former member of the Toronto Blue Jays will be getting one as well: Daniel Vogelbach, who spent parts of two stints with the Blue Jays and just served as one of the hitting coaches for the well-oiled Brewers machine.

Still only 33 years old, Vogelbach was a second round pick of the Chicago Cubs in the 2011 MLB Draft. He was traded to the Seattle Mariners in 2016 and made his debut with Seattle in that same year. He broke out with Seattle in 2019, hitting 30 homers and driving in 76. However, he never hit for a high average and the Mariners let him go in August of 2020. He was picked up by the Blue Jays, but played just two games before being let go again and picked up by Milwaukee. That was during the pandemic-shortened season.
The Blue Jays ended up getting to the playoffs that season with a young Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
As for Vogelbach, he played with the Brewers for the rest of 2020 and 2021 before spending 2022 with a combination of the Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets. He was with the Mets in 2023 and then spent 31 games with the Blue Jays in 2024, his final stop.

In total, he hit .219 with 81 homers. With the Jays, he hit .176 in 33 career games. He had just one home run as a member of the organization.

After his playing career ended, he spent 2025 on the Pirates' coaching staff. He was hired by the Brewers in January of 2026. He appeared to be an integral part of the Brewers this season, as they just played a relentless brand of offense.
How about for the current Jays?
Well, with the World Series over, the offseason has officially started. Toronto saw eight players exit the organization on Thursday in free agency and those players are free to sign elsewhere as early as Nov. 2. However, nobody knows what the financial landscape will look like in 2027 because of the labor issues, so the Jays may opt to sit back and wait to see how things materialize.
Also, the Blue Jays need to have some decisions on Shane Bieber and Myles Straw made by that date as well.
