The thought of Aaron Rodgers playing only one more season in the NFL is hard to believe. Some generations saw him play when they were kids, and now that they are adults, Rodgers is still playing just like LeBron James in the NBA. For many people, those two future retirements would be the complete end of their era.
On Wednesday, Rodgers confirmed that 2026-27 will be his final one in the league. Rodgers is 13 touchdowns away from moving into third place all-time in touchdown throws behind Tom Brady and Drew Brees , surpassing Payton Manning .
Jordan Schultz reported the incentives Rodgers will earn in his final season . His $2.5 million contract could get even higher if the Steelers can make a postseason run.
"If he plays 75% of the regular season snaps, he can earn the following:
-
$625K for a Wild Card win
-
$625K for a Divisional Round win
-
$625K for an AFC Championship win
-
$625K for a Super Bowl win."
It was also reported that Rodgers knew that he wanted to return to Pittsburgh after the NFL Draft, which happened to be in the Steel City. Hundreds of thousands of NFL fans were there, and he got a great taste of what the 2026-27 season could look like. The AFC North division is up for grabs, and the Steelers might just take it in his final season.
" Aaron Rodgers said he decided to come back after the NFL Draft. He said this process was different than last year's, that there was legitimate doubt that he'd return. But, ultimately decided he wanted to play again," reported DK Pittsburgh Sports on X, citing information from Chris Halicke.
