Much like Week 7, several of the top-10 teams in college football suffered losses or close calls. After defeating Notre Dame and rising to #2 in the AP Poll, BYU lost on the road in overtime to UCF. Ole Miss fell from #7 after they could not pull off a comeback against #19 Texas. The #8 team in the country, Texas Tech, couldn't keep up with Cincinnati, ultimately suffering a loss. In a ranked-on-ranked matchup, #10 Utah prevailed at home over #14 Houston. After the weekend, the only undefeated teams in the Top 25 are Miami, UCLA, and Utah.
Week 9 will see the top four teams in the AP Poll in action. #1 Miami will face Bill Belichick and UNC, #2 Ohio State will go on the road to face USC, #3 Georgia will host #17 Florida, and #4 Indiana will play Minnesota. Now ranked #6, Utah will try to avoid being upset by Cincinnati while #13 Texas Tech will be tested again by #22 Arizona.

Here are a few players who had a good week and might be able to help out the Commanders. Let me know. what you think about these prospects and feel free to post players that stood out to you.
Keyone Jenkins | QB | Senior |UCF
Keyone Jenkins picked a great time to have his best game of the season. Jenkins is a small quarterback at 6', 200 pounds, but he put quality throws on tape in the Knights' win over BYU. Jenkins threw with touch and layered throws over defenders. On a few of his passes in the end zone, Jenkins placed the ball where only his receivers could catch it. Generally, the ball came out on time, but he kept his eyes downfield and found receivers when it didn't. Jenkins is a developmental quarterback prospect who needs to become more consistent with his mechanics in order to stick around at the next level. Against BYU, Jenkins went 25 of 41 for 293 yards and three touchdowns and added a touchdown on the ground.
Caleb Komolafe | RB | RS Junior |Northwestern
Northwestern continued its winning ways against Rutgers, and Caleb Komolafe was a major reason why. He's 5'11", 210 pounds, so enough size to play at the next level. Northwestern appears to use more zone-scheme run plays than gap scheme, but Komolafe plays well in both. His best attribute might be his ability to find holes and squeeze the most out of runs when much isn't there. He can anticipate where holes will open on zone runs, then bursts through them. He has above-average vision and breaks off long runs, but I'm not sure he has the long speed to do this in the pros. Komolafe rushed 13 times for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Wildcats victory over the Scarlet Knights.
Ryan Wingo | WR | Junior |Texas
Ryan Wingo was busy early against Ole Miss, helping the Longhorns gain a lead that Ole Miss could never overcome. Wingo is 6'2", 214 pounds, so he has the size of an NFL receiver. Wingo's best attribute is his speed. He uses it to get past defenders downfield or run by them after short receptions. My biggest concern with Wingo is, while he can rely on that athleticism in college, it might not be enough in the NFL. He needs to improve his route-running and clean up focus drops to have a long career at the next level. He showed improvement in these areas against Ole Miss as he had seven catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Kari Ashley | TE | Senior |TCU
Kari Ashley had a unique path to starting tight end for the Horned Frogs. His career began as a linebacker at Georgia Tech, but an injury led him to being medically disqualified. He became a standout tight end at a JUCO school, impressing TCU. He's now their leading receiver thanks to his sheer athleticism which Bruce Feldman noted in his College Football Freaks List 2026
. Ashley is very small for a tight end at 6'4", 225 pounds. You'd never think Ashley played defense given how easily he catches passes and runs after the catch. While his athleticism is impressive, he still has a long way to go to become a better blocker and all-around tight end. In a loss to West Virginia, Ashley made six catches for 118 yards.
Braelin Moore | C | Senior |LSU
LSU had no problem defeating Auburn, even though the Tigers were fresh off an upset of Georgia. Sam Leavitt had one of his best games and LSU rushed for over 165 yards. Braelin Moore manned the middle of the offensive line, his second year starting for LSU after three years at Virginia Tech. Moore is a little small at 6'2", 300 pounds, but he is quick getting from snap to hands on a defender. His smaller size helps him to be light on his feet and mirror defenders. Where his size works against him is anchoring against rushers. He can get pushed back towards the quarterback, but he loses the rep slowly which allows the quarterback time to get rid of the ball. This also means he doesn't move people in the run game, but he understands blocking angles and will find defenders in space. Moore would be a fit for a team with a zone running game and gets the ball out quickly.
Dylan Stewart | EDGE |Junior |South Carolina
There's a good chance the first pass rusher taken in the 2027 NFL Draft will be Texas's Colin Simmons or South Carolina's Dylan Stewart. After missing games to start the season due to injuries, Stewart might finally be hitting his stride after back-to-back weeks with a sack. He has the length NFL teams desire at 6'5" and 250 pounds. Initial quickness on the line allows Stewart to beat tackles around the edge or convert speed to power and bull rush blockers. As a junior, he needs to improve his strength and hand usage to disengage from blocks. While there are areas for improvement, the upside of Stewart is easy to see. He helped the Gamecocks beat Tennessee with two tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.
Ethan Wesloski | LB | RS Senior | Oklahoma State
Quarterback Drew Mestemaker isn't the only productive player for Oklahoma State. The 6'1", 234-pound linebacker Ethan Wesloski has been putting up big numbers this year. Earlier in the season, he had back-to-back games with 17 tackles. He makes so many plays by being instinctual and having a high motor. Wesloski is willing to fight off blocks and always hustles to the ball to make plays. I need to see more from him in coverage to get a better sense of how good a linebacker prospect he can be, but the other aspects of his game are solid. For the Cowboys' homecoming win over Colorado, Wesloski had eight tackles, two sacks, and a PBU.
Zeke Berry | CB | Senior |Michigan
Calling the game between Indiana and Michigan a defensive battle would be an understatement. The only touchdown scored was in overtime by the Hoosiers to secure the win. Zeke Berry was one of the Wolverines' top defenders. Keeping Nick Marsh and Charlie Becker, both potentially first-round picks, is no easy task. At only 5'11", 188 pounds, Berry surrendered size to the duo but not skill. Berry has quick feet and fluid hips that aid him in changing direction to stay with receivers throughout their routes. Berry has quickness and speed that he uses to break on the ball. He has no issue making hits, but I'd like to see him wrap up and form tackle more consistently. Berry helped the Wolverines cause in the loss to the Hoosiers with six tackles, a PBU, and an interception.
MJ Cannon | S | Senior |Cincinnati
The Bearcats were able to upset Texas Tech thanks to a number of plays by MJ Cannon. He's a big corner at 6'3", 213 pounds, but does his best work in coverage rather than at the line of scrimmage. While he isn't very fluid, he does react quickly to the play in front of him. That lets him breakup passes or limit yards after the catch if a pass is completed. He can also use his play recognition to trigger downhill and make a stop. Cannon's not a true centerfielder, but can handle any other deep coverage responsibilities. His nine tackles, forced fumble, PBU, and interception were big in Cincinnati's win.
