The Georgia Bulldogs lost one of the country's best men's basketball transfers during last offseason. Georgia guard Silas Demary Jr. committed to the Connecticut Huskies in the spring of 2025 after helping Georgia make the 2024-2025 NCAA Tournament.
Demary Jr. played a key role in UConn's dramatic 73-72 victory over the No. 1 overall seed Duke Blue Devils in the Elite Eight. The Georgia transfer provided strong perimeter defense and a couple of timely three-pointers in UConn's 19-point comeback win that culminated in a last-second Braylon Mullins three-pointer.
Demary Jr.'s transfer to UConn appears to have worked out well with Demary Jr. advancing to the Final Four and even appearing in some commercials throughout March Madness. Demary Jr. was ranked as the No. 13 transfer in the country, per 247Sports. He has lived up to the hype as a transfer and earned first-team All-Big East honors this year.
The 6-foot-4, 195-pound guard has averaged 10.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game for UConn this season. Demary Jr. is shooting career-best percentages across the board in 28.5 minutes per game.
Demary and UConn will look to win a national championship. The No. 2 seed Huskies face the No. 3 seed Illinois Fighting Illini in the Final Four on Saturday, April 4 at 6:09 p.m. ET (televised on TBS). The UConn-Illinois winner will play the winner of the Michigan-Arizona game in the national championship on Monday night.
