After sustaining serious injuries in an ATV accident this offseason, Georgia Bulldogs running back Dante Dowdell provided an update on his condition via social media . The Kentucky transfer shared he sustained a punctured lung, broken ribs, nine staples in his head, two broken collarbones and nerve damage to his right arm.
Following the incident, Dowdell was treated at Shepherd Center in Atlanta. He has been rehabbing his injuries and shared that he had spent 2 1/2 months in the hospital.
Dowdell shared updates of him throughout the rehab process as he walked with assistance and engaged in leg presses and more as he seeks to fully return to everyday life activities.
"God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers!" Dowdell said via social media. He adds his "story (is) not over" after the accident.
Dowdell was expected to be Georgia 's No. 3 running back this season. With him out, running backs Chauncey Bowens and Nate Frazier are expected to see more carries. Dowdell's injury is about more than just football and it is good to see him making progress in his recovery.
"I think our medical staff does a tremendous job," Georgia coach Kirby Smart said. "Connor (Norman) and Ryan (Madaleno) have been unbelievable with communication, talking to his family, talking to Shepherd Center in different places, and they've been with him every step of the way, along with coach Crawford in the running back room.
"They got to go over and visit him and see him in Atlanta and reached out and have talked to him a lot. He's been around the team some, and he knows what his priorities are right now, and that's trying to get healthy."
