New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo is poised to have a large role in his second season in the league. Skattebo had a quality rookie year before going down with a season-ending ankle injury .
He will now be the lead running back for the Giants in the 2026 season, and it appears Harbaugh is preparing him for a large role in the offense.

"When he walks up to me and tells me, 'Are you ready for 20-plus carries a game?' I think I'm in a pretty good spot," Skattebo said .
Skattebo could have a breakout season if he gets 20-plus touches a game for New York's offense. In his rookie season, he rushed for 410 yards and five touchdowns, along with 24 receptions for 207 yards and two touchdowns in eight games.
He proved to be an efficient rusher who can also be impactful in the receiving game.

With Skattebo healthy, he will play a huge role in the Giants' offense alongside the other young talent of quarterback Jaxson Dart and wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Dart is also entering his second season in the league, after completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions. The 23-year-old was also effective in the run game, rushing for 487 yards and nine touchdowns on 86 attempts.
When Dart and Skattebo were on the field together, it gave a glimpse into what New York's offense could look like at its best. They will now be joined by Nabers, who is returning from a torn ACL, which he suffered in Week 4 of the 2025 season.
Nabers had an incredible rookie season, hauling in 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns in 2024. He was off to a solid start in 2025, with 18 receptions for 271 yards and two touchdowns before suffering the season-ending injury.
With the young offensive pieces in place and a new head coach in Harbaugh, the Giants have a lot of hope ahead of the 2026 season. Skattebo will be a big part of the offense and build upon the solid rookie season he put together.
