Cam Skattebo's availability is becoming a concern for the New York Giants as they prepare for a crucial NFC East game with the Philadelphia Eagles. The second-year running back is coming off an impressive performance against the Houston Texans, but a hamstring problem has interrupted his preparation for the next game.
The Giants are already short on options at the position. His status for Week 9 is therefore one to keep an eye on after the latest update from head coach John Harbaugh.
Skattebo picked up the injury on his final carry during New York's Week 7 overtime win over Houston. He had rushed for a career-best 124 yards on 17 carries, including a 42-yard run in overtime that helped set up the game-winning touchdown. The Giants then entered their Week 8 bye, giving him additional time to recover.

However, ESPN's Jordan Raanan confirmed that Skattebo did not participate in practice Wednesday and instead worked with a trainer on the side.
Harbaugh told reporters afterwards that Skattebo remains day-to-day, describing the injury as "complicated" (h/t Connor Hughes of SNY TV).
As of this writing, Skattebo has not been ruled out, but getting involved in Thursday or Friday's practice would be crucial.
Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s placement on injured reserve with a hamstring injury of his own further complicates the Giants' RB picture heading into Sunday. Devin Singletary and Greg Desrosiers are currently the healthy running backs on the active roster, while the Giants have also brought Eric Gray back on the practice squad. If Skattebo cannot play, Singletary could shoulder a larger workload against Philadelphia.
