Giants' José Buttó out 2 to 4 months after surgery to remove blood clot originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
Reliever José Buttó underwent successful surgery Friday to remove a blood clot in his right arm, the Giants announced Saturday.
Buttó is expected to miss the next two to four months.
Manager Tony Vitello added Saturday that Buttó is home and recovering after the procedure.
The 28-year-old right-hander struggled in his relief outing Wednesday; he surrendered four walks and four earned runs while getting just one out against the San Diego Padres before coming out of the game with arm discomfort.
Buttó was placed on the 15-day IL a day later with right forearm fatigue, before the Giants announced Friday the discovery of a blood clot.
San Francisco acquired Buttó at the MLB trade deadline last season from the New York Mets in a trade for Tyler Rogers .
