The New York Giants are bringing back two standout wide receivers from the preseason.
Dalen Cambre and Braxton Berrios are both expected to re-sign with the Giants on Monday, and Berrios is expected to be the Giants' punt returner in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys .
Cambre is expected to clear waivers, according to Art Stapleton of The Record, and will re-sign with the Giants' practice squad. The second-year special teamer/receiver had six catches for 59 yards during the preseason and played special teams in all three games.
The Giants Will Re-Sign Braxton Berrios and Dalen Cambre
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Sunday that the Giants had cut Berrios in a bit of roster gymnastics, since he did not have to clear waivers to be added back to their practice squad.
The Giants opted to keep a fourth tight end, Thomas Fidone II , because they were worried about him clearing waivers. But Berrios is coming back Monday, likely on the practice squad, and is reportedly expected to be elevated to the active roster for the Giants' opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.
Cambre didn't win a roster spot in the Giants' loaded receiver room , and surprisingly, no other team claimed him off waivers despite a strong preseason. The Tennessee Titans could have made a move for him — former Giants coach Brian Daboll, now their offensive coordinator, discovered the 25-year-old undrafted free agent last season.
Cambre reportedly said he would only leave the Giants for a spot on an NFL team's 53-man roster. With hundreds of receivers hitting the open market amid final roster cuts Sunday, it's not especially surprising he fell through the cracks despite his strong preseason.
The Giants Will Need to Add More Receivers
Aside from Berrios and Cambre, the Giants cut Xavier Gipson , Jalin Hyatt and Isaiah Hodgins as part of their final cuts . Hyatt and Gipson could still land on NFL rosters, especially Gipson, given his versatility on special teams.
But seven receivers on the active roster and practice squad aren't enough. The Giants are likely to keep both Darius Slayton and Malik Nabers on limited snap counts against Dallas in Week 1, and No. 5 receiver Odell Beckham Jr. didn't play a down in the NFL in 2025.
Look for head coach John Harbaugh, general manager Joe Schoen, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and Co. to bring in at least two more receivers, including potentially Gipson if he clears waivers.
