More injuries have hit the Giants roster.
Tight end Theo Johnsonand safety Jevon Hollandhave been downgraded to out for Sunday's Week 7 matchup at the Houston Texans , leaving a New York roster already reeling from the loss of quarterback Jaxson Dart, outside linebacker Brian Burns , and linebacker Tremaine Edmundswithout two more of its starters on either side of the ball.
Johnson, who was ruled doubtful in the Giants' injury report released Friday but downgraded Saturday afternoon, suffered a neck injury in Week 5 and sat out last weekend's loss to the New Orleans Saints. His continued absence could be a barrier for the Giants' offense, who will be looking for any sort of familiarity as QB J.J. McCarthy gets his first start in blue .
Holland (concussion) joins two other key defensive players ruled out this week: Edmunds, who played every defensive snap before sustaining a season-ending shoulder injury , and cornerback Greg Newsome II, who also has a concussion.
Four other players — OL Josh Sills, OL Marcus Mbow, CB Nikko Reed, and third-string QB Jake Haener— were also included on Sunday's inactive list.
In a much-welcomed bright spot for the struggling Giants secondary, corner Paulson Adebowas reactivated from injured reserve Sunday afternoon after initially being ruled as questionable in Friday's injury report.
The veteran was first sidelined in Week 2 with a knee injury and missed each of the next five games. He returned to practice Wednesday.
Also notable is safety Tyler Nubin, who has been out since Week 5 with a neck injury. He is active after a pre-game workout, giving the Giants a much-needed boost against a stacked Texans defense.
LT Andrew Thomasand RT Jermaine Eluemunorare active for the Big Blue's offense. Both were listed as questionable Friday.
