The New York Giants have waived defensive tackle DeMarvin Leal , the first player signed under head coach John Harbaugh .
The move came immediately after the conclusion of the 2026 NFL draft, during which the team selected nose tackle Bobby Jamison-Travis from Auburn in the sixth round.

Leal, a former third-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Texas A&M in 2022, joined the Giants on a reserve/future contract in late January. That signing marked Harbaugh's initial roster transaction after taking over as head coach.
The 25-year-old defensive lineman appeared in 32 games with six starts during his time in Pittsburgh, recording 35 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 290 pounds, Leal was brought in for his versatility despite struggling to produce consistently in the NFL. His brief tenure with the Giants ends as the organization shifts focus toward building the defensive line through the draft and subsequent roster adjustments.
The waiver trims the post-draft roster as New York evaluates its personnel ahead of minicamps.
