The Vegas Golden Knights are hosting the Anaheim Ducks for Game 5 of their second-round series. Vegas and Anaheim are playing a close game, and every turn of events could sway momentum in any direction. Unfortunately, the latest turn may cost Pavel Dorofeyev game time.

The Golden Knights were in the defensive zone when Ducks defenseman Jackson LaCombe took a hard slap shot . Dorofeyev blocked the shot on the inside part of his knee. He went down to the ice and was in clear pain.
Medical staff checked him out, before he was eventually able to skate to the locker room while putting no weight on the injured leg. He eventually returned to the ice during a TV timeout. After skating for a bit, he took a seat on the bench, a sign that he is good to continue playing.
Dorofeyev has been one of the best goal scorers on the Golden Knights in recent years. He has posted back-to-back 35+ goal campaigns in the regular season. In 2025-26, he set a career high with 37 goals and 64 points in 82 games.

In the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the 25-year-old had some struggles. Prior to the 2026 postseason, he had skated in nine playoff games. He had just one goal in those games to show for it. This year, he got off to another slow start, failing to score in Vegas's first three postseason games.
However, Dorofeyev eventually found his game. He recorded a hat trick in Game 5 against the Utah Mammoth in the first round. Overall, he has five goals and seven points in this postseason.
Losing Dorofeyev for any amount of time would be a major blow for Vegas. The Golden Knights need his goal-scoring ability on the ice if they want to win the Stanley Cup. Hopefully, his ability to return to Game 5 is a sign that he has avoided a serious injury.
