Viktor Gyokeres returned to the scoresheet for Arsenal in their Champions League match against Slavia Praha, enjoying an encouraging evening in which he contributed directly to both goals. The Swedish striker scored and provided an assist as the Gunners secured a 2-1 victory away from home .
Gyokeres has struggled to make a consistent impact since arriving at the Emirates, and Arsenal have not always been able to rely on him to deliver in attack. His performances have raised questions about his place in the starting line up, particularly with Kai Havertz often preferred ahead of him despite the German also finding goals difficult to come by.
The striker knows he must continue proving his value if he wants to become a more important part of Mikel Arteta's plans. His display against Slavia Praha was a reminder of the quality he can offer when things go well, especially when given opportunities to influence attacking moves.
Gyokeres delivers when Arsenal need him
The Swede showed that he can make a difference even in difficult away fixtures, producing the kind of contribution Arsenal have been hoping to see more regularly. Scoring and assisting in the same match gave him a much needed confidence boost and offered encouragement to the club.
His involvement in both goals was particularly pleasing after a period in which he has struggled to establish himself as a dependable attacking option. Although Arsenal found the second half difficult, Gyokeres had already made a significant contribution to their victory.

Striker delighted with his contribution
Gyokeres was understandably pleased with his performance and the result, although he acknowledged that Arsenal's struggles after the interval had affected his overall feelings about the evening. Speaking to Arsenal Media , he said:
"I feel very good. Obviously, I'm happy with the win and to contribute to the two goals.
"So, a good feeling in the first half – and then obviously in the second half, with how that went, maybe the feeling isn't as good right now. But overall, if you look at the first half, it's a good feeling.
"It's my job as a striker and of course I want to contribute every game when I'm on the pitch and want to be involved as much as I can in attacks. Today felt very good, like I said, especially in the first half."
Gyokeres will hope this performance provides a platform for greater consistency and makes it harder for Arteta to overlook him when selecting his starting striker.
