In August, former Ole Miss tight end Dae'Quan Wright became an unprecedented test case when he practiced with LSU after spending time on NFL rosters, while former Ole Miss defensive tackle Zxavian Harris also sought to join Lane Kiffin's Tigers.
Amid escalating SEC opposition and litigation, LSU ultimately filled its final roster spots without Wright or Harris, leaving both without a college team for the 2026 season.

In a post on X, Fehoko expressed anger over the situation and suggested Wright and Harris had been led to believe they would have an opportunity to continue playing college football.
"Football dreams over just like that. The nasty part about this? They actually believed they were going to play in college again. They got fed lies and a pipe dream," Fehoko wrote

On Wednesday, the NFL sent teams a memo stating that Wright and Harris are ineligible to visit, try out with, or sign with NFL clubs during the 2026 season.

The dispute followed the NCAA's adoption of a new age-based eligibility model that generally allows athletes a five-year eligibility period. The transition rules did not grant an additional season to athletes from the 2022 class who had already exhausted their eligibility, prompting legal challenges.
The dispute escalated after East Baton Rouge Parish Judge William Jorden granted a preliminary injunction, temporarily clearing the way for Wright, Harris, and other affected athletes to seek another season.

The Philadelphia Eagles signed Wright as an undrafted free agent before waiving him on August 10. The Cleveland Browns
claimed him off waivers on August 11 and waived him on August 24, after which he attempted to return to college football.
