- ‘I gotta be better for my teammates’: Travis Kelce emotional and ‘frustrated’ after Chiefs’ loss

The Kansas City Chiefs had a chance to beat the Denver Broncos on the final play on Sunday, but a costly penalty helped wipe it away. After the game, Travis Kelce didn't hide his frustration as he gave a passionate and emotional interview.
The veteran tight end said the Chiefs' procedural mistakes have been piling up for weeks. And he made it clear that he includes himself in that as he seeks to hold himself accountable.
The Chiefs led the Broncos 24-13 heading into the fourth quarter in Denver. But Denver scored 15 unanswered points, taking the lead on a Jonah Coleman touchdown run with less than two minutes left.
Kansas City still got the ball down to the Denver 1-yard line with four seconds to play and appeared to score a go-ahead touchdown, but a false start on right tackle Jaylon Moore pushed the Chiefs back 5 yards, and Patrick Mahomes was sacked on the final play to seal the 28-24 loss.
The Chiefs were penalized 11 times for 105 yards in the game, dropping them to 5-2 and behind the 6-2 Broncos in the AFC West.
Brittany Mahomes was among those frustrated with the officiating after the game. Even President Donald Trump weighed in on the loss, calling it "a nasty ending."
After the game, Kelce started on a positive note, saying the Chiefs can't dwell on the loss.
"We got a lot of fight. You gotta take the positives out of this. You can't dwell on it. It's a pretty good football team. Obviously, in our hearts, we feel like we should have came out with a victory, but at the same time, that's not the reality of things. The reality of things is we got to fix a lot," Kelce said, in a video shared by The Athletic .
But he quickly turned his attention to the mistakes, starting with his own. He admitted he was "frustrated" as he let his emotions show a bit, getting a little heated.
"And the little things, mistakes, and it starts with the person that you're looking at in the mirror. I'm one of them. I've been frustrated with myself on how long I've been in the league and the procedural stuff that's happened for the past three games, really. Really since the bye and it's frustrating. You just can't [freaking] do it. I gotta be better for my teammates and that sets the tone for a lot of people in this room. Everybody's just gotta up the ante from that," Kelce said.
Kelce finished with five catches for 67 yards in the loss. He and the Chiefs will try to clean things up when they host the New York Jets in Week 9. Needless to say, Kelce will be watching the little things closely.
