BVB had 20 shots against HSV. The young, technically gifted attacking duo of Giannis Konstantelias and Konstantinos Karetsas was involved in 13 of those 20 attempts. Konstantelias provided two assists for shots and had two efforts on goal against Heuer Fernandes : in first-half stoppage time he made it 2-0, and shortly after the break he came within inches of scoring a second. Unfortunately, after the challenge with Bakery Jatta in the 49th minute, for which the Hamburg player was not at fault at all, concern took over ( see the reactions ). Konstantelias had to be taken off. After the match, the club's sporting officials confirmed their fears that the new signing may have suffered a serious knee injury. The exact diagnosis is expected on Sunday.
Karetsas — six shots, three shot assists (!) — was outstanding, especially in the first 45 minutes, when he was involved in eight shots in total, including the opening goal by Serhou Guirassy , which he set up in the ninth minute. His direct opponent Louis Lemke won only 20 percent of his many duels in the first half.
And let's not forget the third debutant in the BVB team: with more than 80 percent of his duels won, Joane Gadou was the strongest player in challenges during the first 45 minutes, and the Frenchman also made hardly any mistakes in buildup play. At the final whistle, he had posted a solid duel success rate of 69 percent. In addition, the young center-back was the fastest player on the pitch, with a top speed of 34.2 km/h. (br)
